Watercress Valley @ Cameron Highlands, Pahang

Cameron Highlands, as usual, well known for its plantations and farms and agriculture activities, has a lot of farms and valleys and gardens for us to visit to. One of the unique ones would be the Watercress Valley (西洋菜谷), which we visited on the first day of our visit. It can be easily spotted if you are travelling from Brinchang to Boh Tea Plantation / Lavender Garden, as you will see it on the right hand side. It is also nearby the Ee Feng Gu Bee Farm.

The main entrance signage

At the entrance, you will have to descend a flight of steep stairs, with a lettuce (not sure whether it is) farm on your left. Looking at the green lettuce made us hungry though. They were so big and green and juicy! Those we normally see in KL are sprayed with water, but this is absolutely NATURAL.

Yummy...
At the end of the stairs, you will see a stall selling watercress products on your right, a restaurant in front, and a small entrance to the watercress farm as well. Entrance to the watercress farm is only RM1.00 per person. Continue descending the stairs and you will be welcomed with nice view of the watercress plantations. The most awesome part is, the staff told us the watercress farm is open for visit until night time!

This is how the restaurant looks like from the bottom
Watercress plants can be cooked in various ways, whether to cook it as soup, or stir fry as normal vegetables. The one we like most is to cook it with honey or sweet dates, refrigerate it and drink it under the hot weather! Super duper cooling agent, it is.

Closer look at the farms
What impressed us is that other than watercress, the farm became home to various types of plants and vegetables. Whether they are planted on purpose or just grown wildly, they look so beautiful and natural, compared to those in the city, which are polluted with dust. The moment when we stepped into the farm, a sense of relaxation and serenity came through us.

Even wild flowers look awesome in Cameron Highlands
Tomatoes?
JsKee spotted some wild berries on the cliff.
Big and yummy guava
After our visit to the farm, we decided to try some fresh watercress products. At the stall beside the restaurant, watercress drinks were being sold at RM5.00 per cup. All the drinks were being blended together with some sweet yet cooling ingredients, like honey, sweet dates, lemon and such. Some of them even had choices for hot or cold. The restaurant sells steamboat too, but we did not try it as we had other plans for the evening.

The menu
We ordered 1 Water Cress: Lo Han Guo, Dried Dates & Longan Meat, and 1 Water Cress & Honey. The first drink was good, tasted like those "liong sui" that we normally have in KL. If you are not a fan of ginger, DO NOT order the Water Cress & Honey Lemon drink. It had very strong ginger taste and rather than sweet taste, you may have to expect some spice in your drink. Urgh~

They also had other products on sale
RM5 for 1 cup. Quite pricey, but it was cooling and refreshing. Best to take after a long walk in Cameron Highlands
