Rojak Ali @ Bukit Jalil, KL

Under the scorching hot sun, we decided to have our lunch at the Rojak stall which we always pass by via the route from KESAS Highway / OUG to Serdang / Bukit Jalil / Puchong. The stall was always packed with people whenever we passed by, thus today we decided to give it a try.

This is how the stall looks like.

The location of the stall is before Anjung Hijau Condominium at the roadside. If you are travelling from OUG to Bukit Jalil via Jalan Jalil Perkasa 1, you will see the stall on your right. Vice versa, if you are entering the junction of Calvary Convention Centre via the Bukit Jalil Highway, you will see the stall on your left.

A lot of trees nearby the stall. At least it saved us from sunburn.
All sorts of cars just park by the roadside to enjoy their Rojak and Cendol meal.
This is how the customers of the stall are seated. It was full and we even had to dap-toi (share table) with other people.
So we ordered our usual meal, Rojak Biasa and Cendol Biasa for Cmun, and Rojak Mee Sotong with Cendol Biasa for Jskee. We waiting quite long though, more than 15 minutes, before our meal was served. It is still acceptable, considering that a motorcycle accident took place at that moment, and only 2 men were manning the stall, while the others went to help.

Only two men were manning the stall when we had our meal. The others helped in the motorcycle accident.
Our Cendol came first. Good enough to cool us down for the hot weather, but the taste of Gula Melaka was not strong enough. The ice were not properly crushed and the bits of them were actually quite large as we had to bite the tasteless ice for some moments before swallowing. The amount of cendol strips, red beans and grass jelly were adequate. Sufficient enough for a bowl of ordinary cendol though.

Our Rojak Biasa and Rojak Mee Sotong came after 5 minutes. The portion of the food were quite big, with a lot of keropok, dough fritters and tofu. The mee that they used were the ordinary yellow noodles which we can find in Chinese hawker stalls and other Rojak stalls. Each plate of Rojak, Rojak Mee and Rojak Mee Sotong comes with half side of an egg. According to Jskee, the Sotong that they used had a type of smell which he and many other people could not accept. Their keropok were crispy enough, but the dough fritters had the heavy floury taste, which I don't like either. The sauce was spicy enough. A lot of starch and water but less peanuts.

Looking at the portion of the food, you will not want to imagine how full we were. The total price of our bill was RM13.10 for 2 people. Considered reasonable for a roadside stall.

If you are tight on budget for lunch, do consider having Rojak and Cendol! It will keep you full and satisfied for the whole day, without burning a hole in your pocket!
