Sungai Palas BOH Tea Plantation @ Cameron Highlands, Pahang

The Sungai Palas BOH Tea Plantation is one of the signature destinations that one must go to during the visit to Cameron Highlands. Many of us, Malaysians, grew up drinking Teh Tarik (Milk Tea) and this is where our aromatic tea drinks come from. The view was breathtaking, and we got to enjoy the authentic Teh Tarik at the Tea House as well.

For those who possess own transport, driving there could be a challenge, as the roads leading to the plantation are steep and there were lots of blind spots around the hills. There were also tour buses and vans up to the plantations, those who do not have transport may consider taking those. The entrance to the hills is somewhere near Ee Feng Gu Bee Farm, and a 30-minute journey is expected in order to get to the plantations and the Tea House. Ample parking space are provided, but you will have to walk through the tea plants in order to reach the Tea Centre.

Those who visit may expect an educational experience or a relaxing getaway. The tea factory is open to public, free of charge, where we got to understand how tea leaves are being dried and produced, to make the tea that we always drink. Guided tours are provided to those who prefer more detailed explanations. For those who are looking to buy souvenirs may buy them at the souvenir centre, and the price there was cheaper by 10% - 20% compared to those in KL.

Tea Appreciation Tour

The most signatory activity is to visit the Tea House. There were a huge variety of pastries and tea to choose from, and once you purchased them, you may then enjoy your afternoon / morning tea under the cool breeze, while enjoying the breathtaking view of the tea plantations. Scones and tea are the typical must-try in the Tea House. We ordered a cup of Peppermint Tea, Teh Tarik, Lemon Butter Cake and Scones, which costed us RM19.80 in total. Price is reasonable for us though.
