ButterUp @ Seri Kembangan, Selangor

Recently the trend of morning coffee / brunch is rising among us in KL, and we are pretty sure that you definitely have heard of Acme Bar & Coffee, Tous Le Jours, Butter & Beans etc etc. Quite a lot of them are located quite far away from Bukit Jalil / Seri Petaling; thus we may have to get up early and travel all the way to KL for a breakfast / brunch. However, who does not want to have more sleep in the weekends?

Following our discovery of ButterUp in Serdang, it meant heaven for us as it is very nearby for people who come from Bukit Jalil, Seri Petaling or even Seri Kembangan itself. Located within some traditional Chinese coffee shops, this cafe / bakery is not easy to discover if you are not attracted by the exterior design of the building. Hidden pearl among the shells, and we found it!

If you are not sure about the exact location, I guess every Seri Kembangan-ian or Serdang-ian will know Little Star Cafe, PitStop Cafe or the Monday pasar malam spot. ButterUp is located within that area. It is the first lot of the row with yellow colour exterior.

During our first visit we thought it was only a bakery like King's Confectionary or Baker's Cottage, but it turned out that we were wrong. ButterUp is actually a bakery + cafe which serves bread and pastries, as well as Western breakfast and main courses. The variety of breads was quite huge, and the size of them were big too! Most importantly, the price of the breads was quite reasonable. If you are not a big eater, a piece of pizza bread which costs around RM 4.00 will be able to satisfy your morning hunger. They also sell cakes and desserts for those who has a sweet tooth.

Since we visited for brunch, we ordered something heavy from their Breakfast / Brunch menu. Their special Breakfast / Brunch menu is only offered on weekends & public holidays, 10 am to 1pm. Specially for us, people who likes to wake up till the sun shone on our butt during weekends (the elderly way of saying - waking up late in the morning).

If you are to order the breads and dine in, just take the breads from the display and put them onto a tray and be seated. The friendly waiters will help to cut the breads into pieces and serve you. If not, just sit and wait for them to bring you the menu. Here are what we ordered: ButterUp Breakfast (RM 12.50) + Hot Cappucino (RM 6.80), Mushroom Omelette (RM 12.00) + Iced Caramel Apple Coffee (RM 7.80). The portion of the brunch was just nice. Apparently the Caramel Apple Coffee was one of ButterUp's specialty, and to us it was a unique selection compared to other usual coffee drinks like Latte, Cappucino etc. The coffee taste were not very strong, to us it was just nice. Of course, there are also people who like coffee with a stronger taste, it highly depends on personal liking.

In terms of environment, ButterUp offers different types of seating: indoor, outdoor, sofa, dining tables and chairs to suit different customers' liking. We went there on a Sunday morning, and many families with children had their breakfast there too. To us, the environment was quite noisy at that time, considering that we don't like kids who scream and shout and run around.

Opening hours of ButterUp are written on the blackboard outside the cafe, and apparently the owner decides to have every Monday off. Monday Blues eh? In terms of parking space, there were plenty of parking spaces around that area as the roads are wide enough. Roadside parkings are available. Free of charge (But keep an eye of the MPSJ...)
